The colour, numbered 17-3938, is intended to encourage an optimistic view of the future. The Pantone Institute representatives were inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic and virtual reality. It's a shade of blue that falls heavily into violet and "helps us to open up to a new vision when life writes a new scenario for us".
